Bucket List

Is it really stinkin’Happy Monday, friends!  Hope you all had wonderful, relaxing weekend. :-)

So in light of turning the big 3-0 in a couple weeks, I’m putting together a pseudo-Bucket list.  I’d love to try and knock half these off my list in the next 5 years.  There are SO many things I would to do and places I’d love to see, and with my horrible memory, I figured writing them down would be a good place to start.  Here’s what I have so far (I’ve put an asterisk * next to the ones I’ve done before, but want to do again):

  1. Go on a hot air balloon ride
  2. Rock Climbing
  3. Make pot roast
  4. See Italy
  5. Visit Greece
  6. Be an audience member of a TV show
  7. Ride in a small airplane
  8. Learn to sail alone without wanting to pee myself
  9. Go to a hockey game
  10. Spend an afternoon at a day spa
  11. See Washington D.C.
  12. Gamble in Las Vegas
  13. Volunteer
  14. Run at least 3 miles again*
  15. Pay for someone’s meal/drink that I don’t know
  16. Shoot a gun
  17. Play paint ball
  18. Complete a triathlon
  19. Have my fortune told/palm read
  20. Ride a roller coaster again*
  21. Visit at least 10 new states
  22. Write a letter to a business for excellent customer service
  23. Find a job I like
  24. Learn to do the crow pose in yoga
  25. Send someone flowers just because
  26. Learn a new song on the piano
  27. Finish my scrapbooks from my Ireland Trip (um, 2004) and Boston Marathon (2006)
  28. Deepen my faith
  29. Make a snow angel again*
  30. Apply for some kind of reality TV show
  31. Paint pottery
  32. Watch at least one of the “Godfather” movies
  33. Participate in a bar crawl
  34. Go to a baseball game at Wrigley Field

I found a couple of great websites with some ideas:

Some were TOTALLY random, though, like “Go into a hospital and make people believe I’m a doctor.” Um, no thanks.  :-)

So what’s on YOUR Bucket List?  What things would you like to do in the future, or what places do you want to see?

  1. love it! and the big 30! Too crazy. I think a beer crawl sounds fun—I’d like to train my dog to be a therapy dog–thats a new one.

  2. I LOVE your bucket list!! You have some great “do-good” items on yours. Mine is so self-centered in comparison!
Living in the city, any city, at least once (Boston, SF, Atlanta, etc.)
Running a half marathon (this will be ticked off the list soon enough, eek!)
Running a full marathon (um I doubt this will happen, but we’ll see)
    Going to Hawaii
    Taking a cruise
Starting my own business – preferably a pizza shop in Healdsburg Square (Sonoma County, Cali – ha, this one’s a stretch!)

And PS. TOTALLY plan a bar crawl for your 30th, that’s what we did and it was a BLAST!! Woo 30!

  3. Love the list. I’m terrified of making my own because I’m sure it’d be a book and then i’d get overly anxious about the length of it and start to freak out… because that’s what I do. :p

I’ve never seen a Godfather movie, either. Considering I’m a big movie person, I find that very strange…

  4. Those are GREAT things on your list and all seem completely doable!

  5. I’ve done some of the things on your list and I definitely agree they should be there! You will have so much fun crossing things off. I made my own list awhile back. I should print it out and carry it around with me so I remember what some of my goals are. I’ve already done some of them so I need to cross them off! The next one to be crossed off the list is to visit Savannah, GA. Doing that in June!

  6. Aww, I love the bucket list! Mike and I were actually talking about creating one about a week ago. :)

  7. Such a cool idea. Josh and I started to put ours together when we were on vacation in Jamaica- mine includes Run a half or full (or both) marathon, get a recipe published, attend a food network taping (would love to go to Paula’s Party), have a baby.

  8. Holly, this is AWESOME! You have such a great list going! I love the ones about paying for a stranger’s meal and send flowers just because. That is so sweet!! And of course I love the one about deepening your faith. I need to work on that as well!! Oh and I would looooooove to visit Italy too!! So, when is the exact date of your birthday?

  9. Awesome Bucket List! I love how several are about doing things for others :)

  10. ahhhhhh i want to go in a hot air balloon ride too!!!!! and i want to do lots of things that you do too!!! you should go to cedar point for that coaster ride!! <3

  11. I’ve never seen the Godfather movies either! When is your birthday?

  12. What a great idea – I love your bucket list! I should create a bucket list too :-) . I’d include visiting Ireland, running a half-marathon, and sky-diving!

  13. haha let us know what reality show you apply for!!

i want to go sky diving and also travel somewhere without knowing where I am going! show up to the airport and see whats available! (like in the movie YES MAN)

  14. I love bucket lists! I made one a while ago and was amazed to see how quickly you start doing the things (even subconciously). So much fun

  15. that is a great bucket list.
on the top of my bucket list is to write a book. and have it be sucessful. however, the only thing that is that entertaining that i can write about are the men that i have dated… Im tellin you with the men I have dated you would think i swear off men all together… but i tell myself its for research.

  16. I love your bucket list! That is such a great idea! I need to make one of those asap!
You do not even look like you would be any where near close to 30! Congrats on the big birthday girl! Can’t wait to see how you celebrate! You deserve it!
P.S. I may have to take a few ideas from your bucket list….i really liked it :)

  17. I love, love, love your list. I need to make one. I may write a similar to post.

  18. feel free to add go to atlanta. it’s like italy in wonder; sort of…

  19. My Grannie went in a hot air balloon and said it changed her life! I want to do that, too! I like your one about finding a job you like…I think that is SO important. Like more important than anything else, at least for me personally. I loved reading your list – and you will LOVE Italy and Greece…especially Italy :)
