(This post inspired by Kim’s post on Tuesday!)
Sometimes I think I (and maybe we all?) get caught up in the BIG things that make us happy. Job promotions, new cars, getting married, buying a home, etc. And while all of those things ARE incredibly exciting, it’s important to remember all of the SMALL things that we encounter daily that help make us happy. And to feel grateful for the blessings, big or small, that we have in our life.
Some little things that are making me happy right now:
Obviously seeing each one of these kiddos makes me incredibly happy. They say the funniest things, too. At his birthday party, for example, my sister asked Ryan (my 5 year old nephew):
"Ryan, do you mind taking a picture with your grandparents?"
"Sure!" (He answered very enthusiastically). "Who are they?"
(We always call them grandma and grandpa. Obviously we need to work on that).
Obviously y’all know how much running means to me. It is about staying sane and being healthy, but even more than that, it’s about finding something I love to do that I feel I’m (somewhat) good at. It makes me feel strong, and like I can accomplish anything!
Making it a point to spend more time with these two fabulous ladies. Well, they were quite ladies in this picture….but my sisters and I are trying to make an effort to get together more often. We’re getting together tomorrow night (and make a Valentine’s Day Wreath!) AND planning a weekend trip to Chicago next month! Spending time with them just makes me happy.
I don’t talk it about it much on the blog (perhaps I will in an upcoming post?), but I am always, constantly worried about my mom’s health. But I am SO proud of her – she joined the YMCA (my gym and also where both of my sisters go) this week! I made her make a date with me every Wednesday night to walk on the treadmill, and I think my sisters are going to make workout dates with her, too. I am HOPING this will motivate her to keep up with a new, healthy routine – she has never really worked out before, and I don’t want it to be too overwhelming and for her to get discouraged. Baby steps!

The daylight is increasing each day! It stays light out now until a little after 6….AND less than 2 months until we spring forward.
What little things are making you happy right now?
