The Bucket List….Revisited

I was reminded from Kim’s post last week on lacking balance that I have to be careful not to put all of my eggs into my “running basket.”  As you probably know, I LOVE running….but I also love being able to do other things, too – I feel like it helps to prevent injuries AND makes me stronger.

I also revisited my Bucket List with the start of the new year, and I’ve decided on one to cross off this Spring:

Carmel Swim Club Triathlon

I’ve mentioned here before that I want to complete a triathlon (but couldn’t due to an injury), and thought this one would be PERFECT since the swimming portion is in an indoor pool.

I’m pumped about it – although NOT pumped about the swimming.  Swimming is one of my least favorite exercises….but ALSO the best (IMO).  My whole body gets sore from swimming – it is unlike any other form of cardio I have ever done!

My goal is just to finish the triathlon, since I honestly have no idea how long it will take with transitions and everything.  I’m hoping I can get one of my friends to train with me….especially the swimming part.  Swimmin’ ain’t my thang.

So hopefully on April 17th, I will become a (sprint) triathlete!  I’ll all signed up and don’t want to waste that registration money let myself down, so here’s to holding myself accountable.  :-)

  1. I am horrible at swimming but signed up for it as a class my freshman year of college and LOVED it! I think I’d be most nervous about the bike part – I use the stationary bike at the gym, but honestly can’t remember the last time I was on a real bike!

  2. Good luck!!! I think triathalons are crazy awesome- I just wish I could swim a little better…

  3. whoop whoop! I think this is a fabulous goal! I can’t wait to read about the tri! I totally want to do one, one day….I really would prefer to do the swim portion in a pool. Sorry I’ve been so MIA! I will have a post up tomorrow :) I’ve missed ya!

  4. Wow, that’s awesome. I WISH I could swim!! I wanna do a tri!!

  5. How awesome! I would love to try a tri someday. And an indoor one sounds like a great place to start.
